CFP: Supporting Awareness in Intense Distributed Collaboration workshop
[From: presence-L list]
To be held in conjunction with OzCHI (http://www.ozchi.org/) on Tuesday 21 Nov 2006 in Sydney.
Overview
This one-day workshop on Supporting Awareness in Intense Distributed Collaboration aims at bringing together researchers that have dealt with or are involved in studying, understanding, measuring, and interpreting awareness in technology-mediated collaborations. In the workshop we aim to discuss both:
* Theoretical and methodological awareness concepts, and
* Practical implications for designing and developing awareness tools.
Before tackling practical implications of awareness for the design and development of tools, we need to critically ask how the translation from behavioural awareness evaluation findings can impact and influence system requirements and design solutions.
Submissions
Submissions of 3-4 page position statements are due by 2 November 2006 (updated!).
Notification of acceptance by 9 November (updated!).
Please submit positions statements to Claudia Schremmer – claudia.schremmer[at]csiro.au
Position papers will be reviewed and selected by HxI committee, see HxI Website http://www.hxi.org.au/. Workshop participation will be limited to participants with accepted position papers (this ensures the quality of the contributions, and the interactivity during the workshop).
After the workshop, extended full papers will be considered for journal publication in a peer-reviewed Special Edition: Supporting Awareness in Intense Distributed Collaboration within the Journal Series of the HxI Initiative, which in turn is under the umbrella of the Australian Computer Society Journal.
