Organizzato nell’ambito del corso di Comunità Virtuali del Dipartimento di Informatica e Scienze della Comunicazione dell’Università di Milano, giovedì 27 marzo 2008 , alle 9:30 in Via Comelico 39/41 a Milano (AULA BETA), ci sarà un seminario dal titolo “Beyond the desktop metaphor: ITSME, a new context sensitive, open source workstation”.

After almost 30 years, it is time to go beyond the desktop metaphor shaping all the workstations people find in the market. In these years we have characterized situatedness of human practice and developed ways to
support it. ITSME is the name of a new workstation we are going to design and develop, based on a new metaphor, that of ’stories and venues’. Human life can be seen as the intertwining of several different stories: for each story ITSME creates a venue where users can find all the things that are relevant for it. ITSME will be a Linux based workstation. This seminar outlines the relevant features of ITSME, and proposes the conceptual, technical and design issues characterizing the challenge of developing a new workstation, today.
